Erwin McManus was born on August 28, 1958, in San Salvador, El Salvador. Erwin spent the early years of his life with his grandparents. His mother’s name is Alba.
When he was young, he migrated to the United States to join his mother. His brother Alex was also with him. He grew up on the East Coast – primarily in Miami, Florida, Queens, NY, and Raleigh, NC.

McManus studied philosophy at Elon University before transferring and graduating with a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He got his M. Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. McManus also received a Doctorate in Humane Letters, an honorary degree, from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
Career Life
When he got his master’s degree in Dallas/Fort Worth, he began two congregations serving. From 1990 to 1993, he became the Metropolitan Consultant and City Strategist for the city of Dallas and served the role as a Futurist and Urbanologist.
In 1993, he returned to his family in Los Angeles and became senior pastor of The Church on Brady in East Los Angeles. Then, he changed his name to Mosaic. McManus has remained with Leadership Network since the 1990s. He is also a partner with Bethel Seminary as a lecturer and futurist.
